Sehr gute Flugeigenschaften, stabil in der Luft. Der 11er kite ist mein groesster Kite, ich kite damit ab 12kt.

Kite Komplett mit Bar und Leinen
    Preis ist Verhandlungsache...

    Angebote an "stephan@kiteboardtour.asia"[/email]

    Super sache...

    KTA Philippines End Report

Kiteboard Tour Asia Opens its 2012 Tour

Successful Round One in the Philippines

by Freida Dario (KTA Philippines Correspondent)

BORACAY Island, Philippines – January 2012 Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) Philippines, powered by AQUA Boracay (www.aquaboracay.com) held it’s third successful year from January 10 to 15. KTA,Asia's firstever sanctioned international kiteboard competition organization kicked off the kiteboard season 2012, with a bigger and better Asian tour on the expansive 100-meter beachfront of AQUA Boracay – a brand new upscale residential resort development along the prime section of Bulabog Beach, which has been the scene of two previous years of KTA competitions, with its global reputation for top class wind and kiting conditions.

The tropical country’s leading travel destination, Boracay has received numerous awards, including Second Best Beach Destination in the World in TripAdvisor’s ‘Travelers' Choice 2011’ awards, and fourth in the Top 10 Islands in the World list travel & Leisure Magazine’s ‘World's Best Awards 2011’. It is no wonder that each year, KTA Philippines attracts increasing numbers of kiteboard champions, competitors, and enthusiasts, with an unprecedented record-breaking registration this year, of 79 riders, with 62 racers and 22 men along with 16 women for freestyle, all in top form and ready to go.

Building on the success of its first two events, KTA collaborated with its new Presenting Sponsor AQUA Boracay, who pulled the stops to provide a world-class venue and a number memorable happenings in and around Boracay Island’s top spots making each participant’s Boracay experience, absolutely unforgettable.

Set on the eastern side of Boracay, Bulabog Beach, provides ideal kiteboard conditions during the winter monsoon months with the anticipated wind speeds of between 25 to 30 knots, showing up as planned making for perfect as a competition each day.

Here is a rundown of the week’s highlights: Opening Party (January 10) and Registration Day (January 11) – KTA Philippines welcomed this year’s delegates with a welcome party at EPIC BORACAY (www.epicboracay.com), with competitors from across the globe converging at Boracay’s epicenter for world-class dining, drinking and dancing. The crowd of kite champions and enthu
siasts, supporters and island residents enjoyed an evening of revelry, with great food and flowing booze, and riveting live tribal performances by Kadangyan. Guests were initiated into Boracay’s thriving night scene, known as much as a party destination by night, as it is a beach holiday haven by day, and the evening proved to be a precursor to the exhilarating journey in the coming days. Thankfully, day two was registration day, which as mentioned earlier, saw a record-breaking registration of 79 riders. With the promise of good winds, competitors were out-of-sight by nightfall, bracing themselves for a hell of a ride,
    KTA-style!

Competition Day One: Freestyle Single Eliminations (January 12) – Starting the day with a Skippers meeting at 9AM, with bright eyes clad in stylish sunglasses, spirits soared in equal amounts of excitement and trepidation as the winds raged over 25 knots. With the air dense with electrifying energy, KTA Competition Director and KTA Philippines organizer, Stephan Hertig announces the day’s schedules and participants geared-up for the day’s battles on the turquoise and warm water. By 10AM, the two mile-long stretch of Bulabog Beach was filled with riders and spectators, photographers and tourists, all eagerly anticipating the spectacle of the incredible sport of kite boarding. Converging at AQUA Boracay the crowds cheered as the judges, namely Sedat Celenk, Mars Gersbach, and William Bourget took their places at the Judge’s “tower of power”. Joining Hertig was KTA Tour Director Willy Kerr, who riled up the riders as the competitions began. Alternating the Freestyle competitions for the women’s and the men’s categories until sunset, the exhilarating day took “freestyle” to immense heights, pushing each competitor to their limits until 5PM.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/2012/press_release_boracay1.jpg]

Competition Day Two: Freestyle Double Eliminations and Course Racing (January 13) As expected, the second day of competitions proved to be a wild and sexy from the word go! Starting off with a full morning of Men’s and Women’s Freestyle Double Eliminations, where competitors showed-off their stunning “big air” stunts, each one out to put on their best show, with what seemed to spectators as an intense pageant of sportsmanly/womanly competition in form, unbelievable tricks and amazing combinations of tricks, that one could regrettably miss by looking away for a few brief seconds. Without any breaks, Course Racing commenced at 1PM, with men racing with women at Twin Tip (TT) and Race Board categories. With a wind range of 20 to 25 knots, race speeds were at a neck-breaking 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. After a quick rain shower cooled the competitors, the Freestyle Doubles continued, fiercer than ever, with ridiculous air times, passes and kite loops on show.

By day’s end, protest hearings gave competitors a chance to redress and settle the day’s race disputes and see who came out on top. A great reward for a great day of competitions was a sumptuous dinner at DOS MESTIZOSSpanish Restaurant & Bar (www.dosmestizos.com), which served their popular Tapas Dinner Buffet. As a mid-week party, KTA “Charlie Browners” competed at a more level playing field, the Flip Cup Tournament, where teams battled it out with cups of beer and cup-flipping skills! Not to be taken lightly, great Cabrinha goodies were at stake here, from solar showers and headphones, to iPhone cases.

Competition Day Three: Freestyle Double Eliminations & Finals and Course Racing (January 14) – As forecasted, winds were not as strong as the previous days, although this did not in any way dampen the high energies of the third day of competitions. Freestyle Double Eliminations were sounded off at 10:30AM and went all the way to the finals at 2PM, with champions Victoria Soloveykina (Russia) winning in the women’s category and Andrey Salnik (Ukraine) winning in the men’s category, after two heats of the finals, defeating his top contender with his powered kite loop tricks as well as mobe and slim 5.

The highlight of the day’s Freestyle competitions was seeing local 14-year-old rider Stefano Ganugi, fighting his way through the Doubles with five wins in a row, all the way to 6th place where Taner Aykurt stopped him. Stronger than the prevailing winds, Ganugi totally blew everyone away, and gave the crowd a glimpse of the Boracay champ of the future with his great skill and impressive new tricks such as the kite loop slim, kite loop mobe, shifty grab 313, and kite loop 3! By 2:30PM, the competitions switched to Course Racing, with enough wind for both Twin Tip (TT) and Race Board (RB) racing. For the second set of races, the winds determined that it was time to switch back to RB, with two more successful races that ended another incredible day at 4PM. In preparation for the final day of competitions the following day, no activities were scheduled for the evening, although this did not stop a few brave party animals from a night out on White Beach!

Last Day Of Competitions: A Race To The Finish With Course Racing, Award Ceremonies And After Party (January 15) – With winds dropping to 12 knots, the Skippers meeting pronounced all racing, starting off with Twin Tip (TT), back to back with Race Board (RB) racing.Sounding off the horn at 10AM, two successful races of TT had adrenalines pumping, with kiteboarders racing not only against each other, but challenging the wind to pick up and sustain the unabated race momentum. When the wind dropped, one good RB race ensued until the wind decided to call it a day for everyone at 3PM it was one hell of a way to cap the four days of intense competitions!

Rather than feeling disappointed, participants welcomed the downtime for some quality chill out beach time, with a nice cool breeze and a golden sun – quite the perfect pairing with an iced cold bottle of brew. The perfectly uneventful post-race afternoon was indeed the ideal “calm before the storm”, in preparation for the evening’s libations.

The evening’s celebrations were sponsored by CABRINHA, starting off with the Cabrinha Awards Hog Roast and Ice Luge ceremonies at THE SAND BAR BORACAY (thesandbarboracay.com). The festive gala awards were set at the beachfront, with a chic beach lounge of low tables and leather sofas, for a relaxed kitesurfer-style ambience, under a huge canopy. With not one, but two pigs courtesy of Cabrinha, and a feast fit for champions, the awarding ceremonies were hosted by KTA Tour Director and Co-owner Willy Kerr and local kiteboarder Paula Rosales, with a scintillating fire dancing show. Top prizes for first, second, and third placers with 1st place - CABRINHA kites, 2nd - UNDERGROUND boards, and 3rd MAELSTORM goodies, sunglasses and impact vests. Further Stefano Ganugi received a special award as part of the KTA’s new prize on this year’s tour at each stop to encourage the most up and coming local rider that most impressed the judges throughout the event, supported by Sprockett Boards.

The after party followed at JUNGLE BAR, located at the southern end of Bulabog Beach, surrounded by nature and resounding in ethnic splendor. Open to all riders, spectators, and groupies alike, revelers were treated to free tattoos, sponsored by Cabrinha, with Kerr getting inked with the KTA logo on his “behind”, to commemorate another outstanding KTA event! With Moscow’s legendary DJ Spy.der [Борис Спайдер (Boris Spyder)] and Boracay homeboy DJ Erwin Edralin of the legendary Hey Jude Bar Boracay on the decks until sunrise, it was the perfect ending to cap an incredible first leg of this year’s KTA, and KTA Philippines totally rocked Boracay Island, once again!

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/2012/party_press_release.jpg]

Hertig had this to say about the event, “This was the best event in Boracay we had so far, with prefect conditions, good winds, flat water and the perfect spot along AQUA Boracay’s beachfront, which we’ll have to top again next year! Bulabog Beach and Boracay Island is definitely one of the best locations in Asia for a competition, and we look forward to seeing AQUA Boracay’s completion by next year. Surely, this tropical lifestyle development will be even more stunning in 2013 and in the next five years of KTA Philippines, which they have committed to support.”

When asked to compare this year’s event with the previous years, Hertig observes, “This year was bigger, better and higher, with more competitors, a higher level of riding, and a more relaxed week with less partying and more time to relax for the riders who focused on the competitions more intensely than in the past. Being the local organizer and competition director, all the hard work paid off upon seeing all those smiles on the riders faces.” Hertig thanks all the volunteers for their great job on the flags, the timekeeper, Jim “Frenchie” Thirion for his daily video coverage, Alexandru Baranescu for the incredible photographs, local correspondent Freida Dario for the daily reportage, “and Willy for doing all the things that I had no time to do!”

KTA would like to thank the following for making this event possible: (Presenting Sponsor) AQUA Boracay; (KTA Co-Sponsor and title brand sponsor) Cabrinha; (Tour brand sponsors) Underground Kiteboards, Maelstorm, and Sprockett Boards; (Local support sponsors) EPIC Boracay, Dos Mestizos, The Sand Bar, and Jungle Bar; (Media Partners) Multichannel Asia, Boulder Creek (Sky TV), Action Asia, Kiteworld Magazine, and Kiteforum; as well as the following organizations for their continued support: International Kiteboarding Association (IKA), International Sailing Federation (ISAF), Philippine Watersports Association (PWA), Boracay Windsports Association (BWA), the Philippine Coast Guard – Boracay, and Mayor John Yap.

The 7 Stone KTA Philippines, has been the surprise final that has turned in one of the best events of the 2010-11 Asian Kiteboard Tour season. Coming from one of Asia’s most renowned kiteboarding locations Boracay Island showed the KTA its best side with near perfect wind and conditions for a full four days of on water action. Supported by the smoothly efficient 7Stones team of Mr Dani Aliago the KTA team had the back-up and infrastructure to deliver a highly professional event package for the 71 registered riders from more 20 different countries.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/GREAT_BEACH_SHOT.jpg]

For four full days the daily crowds numbering in the hundreds watched as course racing, freestyle, speed and the Old Skool project competitions unfolded before them. The wind at times was tipping over the 30kt mark and riders were flying both in the air and race style. Also stepping up a gear to match the daytime competition activity a full menu of social events was laid on by the local organising team lead by Normeth Prego. After all this is Boracay and no event here would be allowed to pass through without a touch of Filipino party action – so as the evenings unfolding the KTA and its riders were treated to roof top cocktail parties, casino nights, a stunning fashion and fire show, the unforgettable Tet in Netherland birthday party and of course a fantastic awards night dinner hosted by Boracay Regency hotel on the island word famous White Beach. Then with the official ceremonies completed the crew once again descended onto the competition beach for a final 10/11 Asian Tour closing party at the Hangin Kiteschool - themed as a Lady Gaga and foam party we will just leave it to your imagination how the night unfolded.

[Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/handle_pass_mike.jpg]Following our first two days as reported in our halfway review the competition once again picked up fully as everything was still to play for in all disciplines.
The third day delivered excitement across every competition, beginning the day with 25 knots of wind, the double eliminations of freestyle were run. Taner Aykurt (Turkey) climbed his way from a 9th position to 4th. 13 year old local Stefano Ganugi killed it again with stylish mega-loops, but Nicolas Feraud (France) beat him with two blind judges and a shifty 313. Nicolas went on to beat Taner in an all out battle that was a tough deliberation for the judges, but Nicolas’s last back mobe made it clear. For the girls it was spectacular to watch the small Dina Muldasheva (Russia) go out heat after heat in the strong and gusty wind for over three hours. She worked hard and even beat Christina Alstad (Norway) to be seated 3rd and ready for the semi-finals. Dina’s unhooked rotations were wooing the crowd. The last two heats for both men and women have been saved for the last day of competition as the tide was flooding and the beach disappearing.

We then moved into the Old Skool project. This discipline is actually being run at all time of the competition, next to the freestyle square. The idea being people can go out whenever and put on a show, whenever the wind is best for them, but between freestyle and racing the Old Skoolers had a session all to themselves. The “show” is judged by not only the KTA official judges, but by the riders, spectators and media. Old Skool is known to attract so many to the sport, so it is being run with entertainment value in mind. Huge displays of entertainment were seen from Taner and Erkan Aydin (Turkey), Merck Marasigan (Philippines), young locals Christian Tio and Stefano, and of course the local hero Ken Nacor.

As the day moved on and three races were run in the afternoon. Rebecka Maudal (Norway) who spends the season here in Boracay certainly had a gigantic smile on her face, cheered on by her local supporters as she crossed the line first for the women’s TT class everytime! Aya Oshima (Japan) is seated 2nd with Helle Johansen (Denmark) in 3rd. For the men it was an exciting start as leader William Bourget (France) broke a line right before the 1st race was to begin. A good show of sportsmanship was seen from K!NN Pro rider team member Kin Nguyen Ngoc (Vietnam) who body dragged William in to change his lines as soon as possible, allowing William to get back out in time to compete. A good thing for William as after today he is holding onto his 1st position with Nacor right on his tail, literally, every time. And it is Estonian Pridu Null who is holding the 3rd position.

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/course_shot_boracay.jpg]

For the race boarders it continued to be edge of the seat intensity watching Yo-Narapichit Pudla (Thailand), reigning men’s Asian Champion, contend with world champion Cabrinha rider Bruno Sroka (France). Bruno continued to lead, but the gap was closing. Taner held the position for 3rd. The female race boarding fleet did not go out as it was too strong for their equipment and with that Brunotti sponsored Kathrin Borgwardt (Germany) held onto her 1st place, Dina in 2nd and Astrid Berz (Switzerland) in 3rd.

Day three started with the freestyle finals!

After climbing her way to 3rd yesterday, Dina Muldasheva (Russia) was stopped by Kathrin Borgwardt who went on to ride against Aya Oshima (Japan) in the ever familiar battle that has continued throughout the tour year. Aya proved to have more style and power, all though not a quick decision by the judges, she took the first place prize.

The men’s freestyle was big air, big tricks, big crashes! Ken Nacor, a favourite local rider on this beach, beat K!NN Pro rider team Long Ngyuen Duc (Vietnam), yesterday to take the 3rd seat. Long had won third in Thailand at the last KTA round. Now he was up against reigning Asian Men’s Champion Yo-Narapichit Pudla (Thailand). Riding trick for trick each rider would copy the other, pushing his oppoment to the next level. After many crashes their trick programs began to be more individualistic. Another tough heat to judge, Yo ended up winning due to having more power and lower kite placement. Yo went on to contend with Mike “The Knife” Blomvall, a Nobile rider from Sweden.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/YO_NICE_FREESTYLE.jpg]

Course racing was captivating. It was a thrill seeing the fleet move towards the starting line, slowly at first then quicker and quicker with eager faces full of intensity. Three races were run, the first full of tangles before the start with many disqualified for crossing the start line to early. The crowd were on the edge of their seats watching with anticipation for the moments when Yo would pull ahead of World Champion, Cabrinha rider, Bruno Sroka (France). The second race presented the biggest of these moments when Yo beat Bruno over the finish line. “I feel very happy. This is my dream, that one day I’m going to beat Bruno. So my dream came true!” Rebecka Maudal (Norway) who had been leading the women’s TT class had two bad experiences in the first two races with line tangles by other riders. “In the 2nd race I had to use my quick release and put my kite back together before starting again. In the 1st race an upwind rider crashed on me. I had to stop while they were able to keep riding. Then my kite flipped inside itself, eventually I was able to relaunch it and finish, but I had already lost too much time” reported Rebecka. But her overall performance still won her top spot on the podium.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/tt_ladies_event.jpg]

The winners of the course racing for the men were Bruno, then Yo for 2nd, and Taner Aykurt (Turkey) for third. For the women it was Kathrin for 1st, Dina for 2nd, and Astrid Berz (Switzerland) for 3rd. For the men’s TT class it was William Bourget (France) for 1st, Ken Nacor (Philippines) for 2nd, and Pridu Null (Estonia) for 3rd. The women’s TT ended with Rebecka in 1st, Aya Oshima (Japan) for 2nd, and Helle Johansen (Denmark).

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/course_mens_event.jpg]

The Old Skool Project has also been keeping spectators and riders busy. With strong winds riders are able to compete at any time they wish to create the best overall show. Judged by each other, spectators, media, and official judges the winners for the women were Helle Johansen (Denmark) for first, Astrid Berz (Switzerland) got 2nd, and Kathrin won 3rd. For the men it was the godfather of Old Skool himself, Toby Braeuer (Germany), who took 1st, Taner who won 2nd, and Merck-Mino Marasigan (Philippines) who won 3rd.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/old_skool_ladies_event.jpg]

Also in the background throughout over the four days was the local Boracay Speed Comp, which in the winds we have been experiencing was fully lit. Running with an open gate format over a set time period each day, riders could take as many runs as they wished through the time gate. Local speed specialists were showing the way to the visiting riders, many of whom had never tried speed racing before. In the end it would be the local knowledge and experience that would win through with Tony Heiss, Angel Parzhuber and Winni Levai taking the top three slots respectively for the men, while in the women’s class Janicke Stav, Liezel Tio and Dian Tobes would take the honours.

     [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/images/stories/kta_final_2011/speed_mens.jpg]

So with the 7 Stones KTA Philippines complete all attention turned to the overall rankings and who would take the overall championship titles for the 2010-11 Asian Kiteboard Tour, some changes and surprizes were in store and in one case one single point would be making the difference between being the 2011 Champion and runner up - read on ……………

Dies ist der offizielle Zwischenbericht aus Pranburi Thailand.. der schlussbericht folgt demnächst sowie ein trailer zum Event.
Ueberraschender weise war das einer der windigsten Competitions der letzten beiden Saisons.

So here we are at the start of day two from the KTA Thailand powered by GAC and it’s been a fantastic start to the event. Near perfect conditions on day one gave us a full programme of events to lead off with – three course races, freestyle and even some Old Skool. Day two is equally as nice on the wind front and our first racers are now going through out on the water.

The racing in Thailand has also seen the first outing for the new IKA race rule changes that also include the first production board sub-class registration. So a busy race scene here for sure with production board class, overall race boards and of course the all action TT Class which is as popular as ever.

Even though before the racing began we were able to make the most of the wind even on registration day with the Ably Rondina Freestyle Jam which gave invaluable input to those freestyle riders hoping to make their mark over this event.

So to the competition and in the TT racing Kin Nguyen Ngoc and Dennis Wong continued their battle for the class lead. However, new comer to the TT racing scene, Ken Nacor ( a favorite in the freestyle category) is giving Kin and Dennis a run for their money. And since anything can happen when it comes to racing, spectators are sure to be watching these results with enthusiasm. In overall racing, Yo Pudla is working hard at staying in front on his home ground and Kathrin Borgwardt continues to take 1st with what seems little effort, but if you asked her when she exited the water today she would have told you how exhausted her legs were from the 3 races! Aya Oshima continues to prove herself in the women’s TT racing class as the best in Asia!

Freestyle single elimination has been completed and we are well on the way now through the doubles. On the womens side of things Sarah Demdoum from France is leading from the single eliminator round and for the guys Tanner the Turkish champion is holding the top slot.

Meanwhile Old School was entertaining new spectators as always, being run in a less than ordinary competition format- something new the KTA is trying out, imagine that. With Toby Braeuer here to guide everyone through the new format, the importance of old school as a baseline of attraction and fun for the kitesurfing sport is apparent. Big kites, cool tricks with complex technique to tricks all about style, everyone is taking part in the old school portion of this event. You can ride around whenever you feel the conditions are right for you, no defined heat system, you can ride as long as you want, and as many times as you want. Not only the judges judge, but also the crowd and the media, promising that the old school portion is all about the show at every level.

So nice kick off Thailand and for those of you following the results then check things out here: http://www.kiteboardtour.asia
